One of my favourite cobra species .I came across this one out and about at around 8;30 in the morning.

I have been told they are not as rare as what we think they are. I still cannot find a report of a single human bite from this species.

Nice photos Tony and nice find.

BV, I used to do call outs in Aggeneys and these were the most common snakes on call outs.

I recon they spend the bulk of their time in burrows or between piles of rocks. Hence they are just not often encountered. We usually found them active early morning and late afternoon.

Fantastic.Also my favourite snake.They are common in southern Namibia.I have also found them in Witsand,Olifantshoek area.
Has anyone seen them in the Kuruman hills?
They live in such dry areas that they very seldom can move around to feed unless the humidity goes up and rain may fall.I think They are black to thermoregulate quickly without dehydrating too much.
