B.arietans callout

B.arietans callout

Postby Jamster » Fri Sep 05, 2014 12:55 pm

Got a call from a retire village here in PE that gets snakes from time to time. They said they had 2 big puffies next to one of their buildings. Upon arrival I got out of the car and took a couple of pictures while the residents looked a little worried that I was being so laid back, haha. All in all two beautiful puffies, released them in a coastal reserve a couple of kilo's away.

Yes, it happened to be a male and a female. No, they don't travel everywhere in pairs. Haha.

Good job Jamster. It's interesting how those who are not familiar with snake (for some reason or another) freak out at the mere sight of a snake. I used to be like that many years ago. But after working with snakes for a while, when I see one it's as common as seeing a pet dog or cat.

That yellow one is a real stunner.

Another day at the office, haha. Well done!

Went out for another puffie today but it had dissapeared in the bush by the time I got there, on the plus side I got a nice little rinkhals today.

Went to the guys place and saw corrugated metal sheets in a pile. I told him that snakes love that stuff. We went around to the back of the house where the rinkhals was supposedly in a pig feed bag hanging from the stoep roof. Opened the back and tada no rinkhals. Went back round the house and lifted a piece of corrugated roofing ( the piece I hadnt checked under earlier) and there it was curled up in a neat ball. Releasing him/her tommorow, will take pics a bit later.

Nice callout jamster, beautiful pic of 2 contrasting colored puffies. That pic probably demonstrates why I (personal opinion) don't like ball python morphs. In ballpython terms you caught a normal and a pastel puffie!!

Hmmm not really Savu.

In Ball Python terms, Pastel is a proven co-dom morph, so not simply a nicer colour variety.

But when it comes to Boa Constrictors, you are spot on! A brightly coloured Boa is often sold as Pastel when it's nothing more than a variation of normal.

Nice snakes, I think the grey/brown female is amazing!!! Wouldn't it be great if they did travel in pairs? Just think, you could spot two snakes for the price of one.

Haha, but then there would only be half the chance of spotting one, so it would be the same all over again.
