New pair of CB 2009 Naja siamensis

New pair of CB 2009 Naja siamensis

Postby Richard Mastenbroek » Sun Sep 19, 2010 10:24 am

At the last Hamm show I bought a pair of Siam or Black and WHite spitting cobras Naja siamenisi

The female I think is a bitt skinny but she fed yesterday for the first time 2 big mice, I tried to feed her a chick but she refused the male took it straigth away but is like 10 cm linger well fed

Both snakes are captive bred 1 from Germany 1 from Holland. So hopefully not related. THe female has a large black stripe on her back and lots of white. THe male has bandings with blothshes in the bandings.
THe female is very curious the male a compleet nutter spits like a maniac. As shown on the venom at the glass

Need to learn a little better how my new camera works and hopefully make some better shot later.

with kind regards,

My way of keeping snakes and the way I handle them is my way and not to copy or taken as example. Working with venomoussnakes can be risk with deadly ending.

Nice looking snakes mate... Funny enough I got my N. siamensis this year at the Jhb show and the first time I took her out with glasses on but she has not spat at me once...
She is as calm as can be.
Dont bite, strike!!!!

That Female is drop dead georgeous.

Is this a common factor in this particular species, that the females seem to be more docile than the males? Or are the two accounts here just exceptions to the rule.
