Anyone have any BIG Southern Brown Egg Eeaters?

Postby Fooble » Fri May 06, 2011 11:08 am

Just out of interest i was looking at one of my female Dasypeltis inornata.
So i decided to measure her she came in at 1070mm.

What is the largest ( actual measured snake) not guesstameaured any one has seen or has out there?
I see most literature suggests maximum of +-1000mm

Will get some photo's later today of the one in question.

Hey Fooble

I removed one a couple of years ago that measured 1.1m but she looked really old and abused. I don't have any pictures and she was released where i found here once the people knew she was only an eggeater.

Cheers

Gcol cool, must have been a trooper. I think under captive conditions they attain the 1m mark with relative ease. IN the wild that must be a feat. Unless it was living in a chicken coop ;)

Thanks Jamster, often the inornata. get much larger so that's interesting to note.

Well is was in a chicken farmers garden hahaha, but seriously she was a sizer thats why i took the time to measure her. She was also about the thickness of my thumb.
I used to have one that was close to the meter mark ( I never measured her unfortunately) but she was big enough to eat store bought chicken eggs.

If you've seen one this big you'd be really fortunate.

If I'm gonna be an old, lonely man, I'm gonna need a thing, you know, a hook, like that guy on the subway who eats his own face. So I figure I'll be Crazy Man with a Snake, y'know. Crazy Snake Man. And I'll get more snakes, call them my babies, kids won't walk past my place, they will run. "Run away from Crazy Snake Man, " they'll shout!”
