That is a southern brown.

Nice looking one and I hope he feeds well. Some egg eaters can be a pain to feed.

Quick questions

I got some advice for feeding it, but the pet shop I got it from didn't really ask the previous owner any details about the snake. Its been at the pet shop for about 6 months though.

Is there a way to tell sex without probing? And how big should they be before they breed?

Otherwise the eggie is doing well, very active and calm, it just hasn't eaten yet for me. I'm sure a supply of fresher eggs will do the trick

I don't want to be the one to ask this, but did the petshop give you permits with the sale?

Southern Eggies are indigenous and thus require permits in the Eastern Cape.

Regarding your other queries, post a picture of the underside of his tail, from vent to tip, and we should be able to tell you the sex.

The Natal guys will be able to help you regarding breeding size, but I would guess 70cm roughly.

What eggs are you trying to feed it?

Yes they did, in the EC we require permits for every snake around. Very reputable shop as well

Will try get a tail picture but its very slender and its tail is very long and pointy. I left 3 eggs in its enclosure, 2 dove eggs and one slightly smaller(a quail egg I think). The dove eggs look like quite a strecth, but the smaller egg looks about fine.

I would say its pretty lengthy, not sure of exact length though
