Postby marc bt » Wed Feb 11, 2009 4:46 pm

hi guys,
well i got a 1m male broadbanded copper and he is been refusing mice for about 2 1/2 weeks, he normally he eats rats but with the recent rat shortage mice is only on the menu.
he eats like a pig normally, do you think he only wants rats? he has been racing up and down his cage all day and night for the last 2 weeks. he shed about 3 weeks ago but i've noticed he hasn't had a c@#p so i soaked and nothing, what else can i try?
thanks :D

Steve is right mate two and a half weeks is no time at all.
But having said that through my own observations some species of snakes after eating rats for awhile certainly develope a preferance, particularly in Pythons.

Generaly copperheads are dustbins and will eat anything. If it does not feed for a while just be thankful that he is taking a break himself. He will come around.

Quick question,

Do you only try to feed him in the day time ?

If so, I recommend trying to feed it when it starts moving around its cage at night again.

If that doesn't work, I still wouldn't be worried for the time being, he'll come around...
