Back-up Rack

Back-up Rack

Postby balls'n all » Wed Feb 16, 2011 10:17 am

Hey guys,

As you know the Western Cape can get bloody chilly in the winter time and Temperatures can become very unstable. So to help deal with that I've prepared my first "Back-up Rack" to use when needed. I've basically built a 2 shelf rack to start that houses 2 40l+/- plastic tubs. The tubs have wheels and slide in and out with very little effort. The gap between tub and wood is exactly 1mm.

Inside the tubs are my latest pair, Charlie and Annabell, and they's got a cross like perch setup with the shorter bar closer to the heat pads. This gives just a little more room to find the right spot. I've also put in an exo-terra plant in each which helps create a little microclimate.

Each tub is wired up to a thermostat made by our very own ClintonT. If you're looking for a good solid thermostat/ advice he's your guy!

Here are some pics:

The Rack isin't a piece of art but it does however cater to the animals needs and thats what it's all about! Practice makes perfect :)

Very nice man, Looks good all you need to do is put the edging on that wood and it will look 100%

Those thermostats do look fantastic perched up on top!

Nice rack but I would suggest that you put more ventilation in the front of the cage so that the cage can get a chance to dry out during the day. If the cage is too dry you can just close it up a bit. Pop rivet the vents in and then they will not pop out either.
