rack heating

Postby cliffordw » Wed Sep 14, 2011 11:03 am

Hey guys.
Sorry its my first time posting. I just wanted to find out if most of you guys use heat
Pads or heat cable on your racks. I build a 5 shelf melamine rack a few months ago.
The problem is the middle tubs temp is perfect cause that's where the stat probe is,
But the other tubs are diff temps like 31.0 , 30.2 and the top tub is 28.5. I am going. To build a new rack soon, just wanted to know should I use pads or heat cable in grooves on the new rack.

Thnx :)

I use Heating pads, They called Flexil I think.
All of them are connected to the thermostat, and All temps are perfect, maybe off by one degree but thats not to much of a problem.

They are basically the same. If you open a heatpad you will find the exact same heat cable inside. Although I cannot comment out of experience, but I've seen breeders use both equally well.

Thnx for the repplies guys. Just a bit worried cause I have like a 3 degree diff on some of the tubs and I don't want to build the whole thing and its no good.
The heat pads are those foil sandwitch things.

Those foil Heat matts are Toilet.
Try get the black heat pads with the copper on either sides. I think they called Flexil.
Hope you come right.

Hi Sorry don't want to jack the topic just a question, can the foil heat pads be connected in series or should they be connected parallel? I connected 10 of them last night but no heat, so either a bad connection somewhere or connected wrong

If you connect 10 in series then they give off one tenth of the heat that they should.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.
