Big problem!!!

I have a problem , we are going on holiday on the 14 Dec. to the 21 Dec. , it will collide with the incubating of the snake eggs coming soon.I don't have a proper incubator as I was planning to manual control the incubation.Now I have 2 options

1=Take the eggs to the local reptile shop as the owner also have a large reptile collection and breeding programs.(he will probably want a baby or 2)
2=Buy a incubator with all the right stuff to keep the eggs "happy" until I come back.

2 Seems to be the best option, so who is making or selling incubators?
Please PM me if you make,sell or know of someone who sell incubators (with prices)

Lampie if your in Kempton like your Location says you can go buy an Incubator at The reptile Gallery I recall seeing one there. Its in Elgin Mall Not to far from where i stay witch is Birch Acres.

What eggs are you wanting to incubate?

Firstly, if you want to get into breeding snakes, then going away when you are expecting eggs or while eggs are incubating is not a good idea.

Secondly, if you take the eggs for someone else to incubate, chances are your eggs "will go off" or something along those lines, which you will just have to take the persons word for... not a good idea, unless it is someone you can trust...

thirdly, you really should have had an incubator by now if you were planning to breed your snakes... buy one or make one.

You can make one by using a simple fishtank (ideally insulated by polestyrene on all sides and roof. You can use wire mesh for a platform. rest the containers with the eggs in on the platform.

Use a fishtank heater to heat the water. Fill water to just below platform.

Set temperature so that the temperature IN THE EGG BOX is the temperature that you want.

Or you can buy one - depends how many eggs you want to incubate and what snake eggs you want to incubate.

You have to be prepared for this kind of thing if you know your female is gravid.

Make the one scorpion suggested, its incredibly easy to make and I've had great success with that type of incubator.

@Ryuu-Thanks I live about a km away of elgin mall.If I don't get a incubator soon I am going to ask Martin(Reptile Gallery owner if he can incubate the eggs.I get most of my supplies from the Reptile Gallery

@Mitton-I thought to switch it manualy on and off but with these fluctuating temp. and us going away it will not work.

Switching the incubator manually would never have worked.

Rather take the eggs to someone who knows what they are doing. The standard agreement is that they take half the babies.

I agree with BV, fluctuating temperatures during the crucial time of incubation is a big no no.

If you cannot source a pre-built/manufactured incubator, build one.
