red tail boa substrate?

red tail boa substrate?

Postby Reynard » Mon Dec 17, 2012 10:33 am

Hi.

I currently have 4 red tail boas in my collection, so my collection is quite small. I am currently using newspaper as a substrate but it does not look attractive whatsoever.

I have purchased some of that fake grass that I have cut into the sizes of the 4 cages. I have soaked it in soap water for a weekend and then washed the soap off properly. Then I still smelled weird, like a rubbery smell.

So could I use the fake grass? I am soaking it again now. Or is there another substrate I could use?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanx.

I like aspen, it looks good and is easy to clean, just throw out the dirty part and fill in the spot with some more aspen and your set.

Rather avoid bark chips. Aspen is a decent substrate. Corrugated cardboard which you get in rolls is also a good substrate.
