Advice on suitable paints

Advice on suitable paints

Postby greggo13 » Mon Apr 15, 2013 2:07 pm

Hi Everyone

I am on a mission to revamp some cages. What is a suitable paint to use inside the cages that will not harm any of my snakes especially with high humidity and something that is quite water resistant.

Thanks

You could try using sign writing vinyl instead of painting. It seems to work quite well.

Just remember that vinyl still has a smell, so just bear that in mind.

I've used lead free waterbased acrylic paint on my cages and it works very well, no smell afterwards. It's also nice and thick which seals the wood quite well.

Hi Greggo. Check your local builders supply for some paint used for waterproofing koi ponds. Has micro fibre mixed into the paint and sticks like crazy.

Cheers, J.

I've always had this idea of painting the inside of display cages with polyurethane paint.

Duram makes a product for bakkie bins liners, which you simply paint on.

If you use an pond or rubber type paint give it lots of time to dry. Some will never really become fully dry....

All paint at stores are lead free.

And I'll get more snakes, call them my babies, kids won't walk past my place, they will run. "Run away from Crazy Snake Man, " they'll shout!”

I have used a couple of methods in the past,

Exterior water based paints work really well.
Pond seller also works well. a bit pricey if you have a couple of enclosures, But you can use the pond seller at the bottom of the enclosure to seal the joints and floor and then paint PVA on the rest of the enclosure.
You can also use laminate, you buy rolls of it.

All paints are lead free, been like that for a will.

Roof seal is an beter option, it is also waterproof and won't look like an fur carpet cause the coco sticks on- like I said earlier ,pond-seal doesn't dry fully . It is an bad option.
