Glass sliding tracks

Glass sliding tracks

Postby iiviii » Wed Aug 28, 2013 9:13 pm

Hi all.

Once again I am in the process of building a new snake tank and have been searching hi and low for these tracks but cant find any.
The last time I built a tank I had to resort to having glass and hinges glued together and although it turned out well id still prefer the sliding tracks.
I am situated in King Williams Town but am in East London often. If anyone can please send me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris Cox

Look for any Penny Pinchers in your vicinity.

They usually stock the rails.

Builders Warehouse also stock the rails but they charge ± R180 for 3 meters, after purchasing mine there I found an exotic pet store that sells the rails for R90 for 6 meters! So my advice would be to call all of the pet stores in your area to see if any of them stock the rails.

I have tried the petshops around here, but that didnt help at all seeing as everyone says I must just try the hardware stores. I think the petshops here are allot different to the ones in the rest of the country.

Mental-tree, would you be so kind as to provide the info for the pet store you got those tracks from? I make use of them on a regular basis. Thanks. I can not see from which area you are, hoping Gauteng.

R180 for a 3m length is still cheap considering, I priced a 3 meter length about 4 months ago and the price quoted was R220.

Try Mica, they said they can order.

Loolilocks KOI Farm, 234 Trichardts Rd, Boksburg. The also have a decent selection of snakes but their stock moves very quickly due to their good prices.

If anyone is interested, Gelmar is selling the white and brown tracks at R35 for 2m. Went and got enough to last me a long time.

The salesman there said that they are the same price all over.

Just a quick question, are these tracks for the 4mm or 6mm glass? I mainly use 6mm laminated glass and the only ones i could ever get is R170.00 per set (top and bottom rail) and they are 3m long.

6mm tracks work perfectly for 6mm (obviously :P) and 4mm glass
