They can become very very tame but it all depends on the inviduals personality. The girl in the first pic is little lyn i call her this because she is just so tiny she can fit into the palm of your hand. They vary in size from hedgie to hedgie she's my smallest and most worthy of the term pygmy i think.I have another that is absolutely huge(i will post more pics).
They are amazingly easy to keep and great for workers as they sleep by day and are awake during the evening.
I have an array of colours including chocolate, grey, albino, champagne, cinnicot, pinto(rarer colour),salt and pepper and my newest and probably one of the more rarer colours Silver.
I've also attached pics of the way i keep mine, obviously here in the uk we struggle a little more to keep the temps up but i use heat mats and central heating
Diet is cat biscuits,cooked chicken,cooked mince,and livefood.
oooh i have to show you all one of my last litter :D

and here is a few of my cages which consist of a house to sleep in,an(very important)excercise wheel and toys. You can also add tubes for them to play in.And yes they do play

BloodDragon sorry to dissapoint you but these will not be allowed into South Africa. They are on the list of species which are potentially invasive although I suppose there is no harm in trying to get them in as pets. From time to time certain animals which are blacklisted are allowed in on an individual basis.

I was told that some have already been allowed into the country recently. This is in stark contrast to the Alien Invasive Lists which specifically black listed them. Oh well if they have been allowed then it is too late to try and stop them now.

Creatures & Critters in Durban stocks hedgehogs (not talking about Tenrecs) and according to them, they are allowed here. Not sure if it is only valid for KZN or elsewhere as well.
