My scorpion collection

Hello all,

I'm new on the site, so I thought I could start off by showing some pictures from my scorpion collection.

My Parabuthus species:


P. mossambicensis sub adult.


P. transvaalicus. Adult male, captive bred of parent animals from Mosambique.


P. transvaalicus. Sub adult female, captive bred of female from Transvaal valley in South Africa.


P. villosus. Adult male, captive bred of parent animals from Namibia.


P. villosus "Oranje morph". 4th instar.


P. liosoma. Adult female, probably from Tanzania. Wild caught.


P. pallidus. Gravid female, captive bred of parent animals from Tanzania.

Psychofox I hope none of them sting you because help is far away. We have quite a number of other Parabuthus you still have to get. No collection would be complete without P. granulatus.

Yes, I'm aware of the risk of keeping these animals, and safety is important to me. The reason many of these scorpions appear rather fat is that they are in pre-molt. I do not keep my adult specimens this well fed. Yes, South Africa has many interesting scorpion species. Most of them are virtually impossible to get here in Europe though. If you know anyone who can sell me some Parabuthus species, I'd be really grateful.

Thought I'd show some species from another genus I find very interesting, Androctonus.


An Androctonus amoreuxi collected in Tunisia. Adult female.


Androctonus amoreuxi levyi collected in Israel. Adult male. A very beautiful subspecies.


Androctonus bicolor collected in Tunisia/Libya. Adult male.


Androctonus crassicauda. Unknown country of origin.


Androctonus baluchicus. Captive bred specimen of parents collected in Pakistan.


Androctonus mauritanicus collected in Morocco. Adult specimen, possibly male.


And finally, one of my gems. Androctonus australis "hector". Sub adult.

yeah i agree BV, the Androctonus bicolor looks like it has a hefty punch behind that stinger. wow, awesome photos man! thanks so much for sharing this with us.

Well, speaking of punch, I think this girl may be one of the best contestants:


This is an Androctonus australis from Tunisia. A bit larger than the regulare one from Egypt, and with a huge metasoma.


And I believe this one is familiar to those with an interest in indigenous scorpions? Uroplectes triangulifer, female. Does anyone happen to know if this species is endemic to South Africa, or does it inhabit the neighboring countries too?

If I'm not mistaken they are only found in South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland.

Hello all,

I've gotten some new scorpions since last time


Parabuthus mossambicensis from Mozambique. A bit hard to sex these, but I've got four with this particular color form, and one orange. Hopefully I've got a nice breeding group of the yellow color form.


Hottentotta tamulus (gangeticus) from India. Got 1.1 of these, so I'll start breeding them as soon as I can.

And one older one:

Hadrurus spadix from the United States. I had a 1.1 couple of these, but sadly they died before I got too mate them. This species is anyways know as near impossible to breed successfully in captivity. The reason is not the breeding itself, but to raise the young. They all die shortly after birth.

Here's another picture. A Hottentotta tamulus gangeticus couple. I put them together for breeding this week, but it doesn't seem like there has been any mating. They definetely go well together though, as you can see:

When I get in my orders this month, I will have around 250 scorpions.
