Postby Bernice » Tue Nov 17, 2009 1:46 pm

Hi all I want to introduce you to my brand new little baby P. cancerides! courtesy of Ice Cold! :-D :-D :-D

Thanks! he/she/it is soooooooo cuuuutttte ! :smt007

I dont have a name for it yet cause I don't know whether its a male or female yet... so its just being called 'bug'...
If it turns out Female, her name will be 'Conchita' If it turns out male... I dont know yet... any suggestions?

Still very small, that's my finger in the background for an idea...

Thanks Karin!

Im just wondering if cotton ball soaked in water is sufficient moisture for it? you can see the small ball in the pic above. I keep it well wet. but what about when he/she grows up? will a cotton ball (obviously a bigger one) still be OK? or do they need a small dish of some kind?

No, remove it. Cotton balls, spunges etc will attract bacteria and nasty stuff that will harm your T. Misting one side of the container regularly will be perfect. Slings also get most of their moisture from their food.

Another option is to use a bottle cap that you have cleaned properly. if it is still to deep, add a few pebbles that you have boiled.

For my smaller slings I also use plastic Teaspoons - I just broke off the handle, they are nice and shallow.

Geez, that's small... and looks funny, but I guess it would say the same about me. lol Seriously though, hope you find lots of joy with your new pet. What does your mom say about it, or does she not know yet. hahaha

@BB: My mom knows me too well... she just rolled her eyes and shook her head :-D now if my aunt (with whom up to recently I was living with...) found out it would probably be bad...

She/she has such attitude!

gotta luv it when something so small is convinced it can eat you... just luv my baby!

Thanks Loretta!

Hee Hee! cockroaches are apparently very yummy! (thanks to Ice Cold for the initial supply!) I'm feeding a small roach every 3 days so far, and they disappear rather quickly... but the little bugger refuses to eat while I'm watching! I must leave the room, and and hour later when I peep back in he's washing his face! *burp*

*Sigh* just once I want to watch him murder his lunch... :-D

Cage question?

Postby Bernice » Fri Nov 20, 2009 2:48 pm

Just a thought...

What is the opinion of this forum on housing a T in a small 'Snake cage' (i.e. chip board box with sliding glass doors)?

Is this OK? or is it not recommended?

Opinions please!

Thank you!
