Pythonodipsas is correct. It has nothing to do with how large the database is or how many members we have, it's the amount of traffic accessing the database at the same time which exceeded the allowable amount for that shared server. My other concern is that we have already used up 27 of our allotted 30 gigabyte bandwidth for this month which is a first for us.
This is all testament to the success this website has become and there is no need to stress, we are not about to do silly things like start charging members to cover costs, we will make sure that any developments will be as transparent to you guys as possible.
At this stage, all I'm saying is that if you visit and find the site down, then you at least know that it's not because it was intended that way and will be up again shortly.
We salute the improvement of the human genome by honoring those who remove themselves from it.
Of necessity, this honor is generally bestowed posthumously. -
