Just a pic or two of my new Atheris ceratophorus
(Usambara bushvipers)

Best of both worlds-They have spikes on the heads and the most beautiful eyes.
These are my little dragons and they are only +- 35cm young adults :)

Sorry, I haven't got more angles to justify her beauty better, but she didn't feel like sitting still at all today for her photo shoot :)

Vuduman, sounds like they are doing well... what temps are you keeping them at? I assume you are feeding them rodents?

When I saw the picture I actually went "woooooow". That's an amazing looking snake! Where do they factor in the Atheris venomosity scale?

The venom of the Atheris species is hemotoxic.I think there has been two deaths recorded from Atheris squamigera. So the venom is capable of killing a man.
I keep my Ceratophorus the same as my squamigers, but maybe a little bit cooler- 27 degrees Celsuis at day and 21 degrees at night.
They are feeding on pink mice with a little tease.

Just a quick question. How do horned snakes shed?Does the shedding come off of the horns to or does the shedding go around the horns? If a shed get's stuck to a horn when they are young will that stop the growth of the horn?

They shed like normal... the shed comes off the "horns" - superciliary scales - the same as it comes off the eyes.
If there is a bad shed and skin remains on the "horn" without being removed it can permanently damage the superciliary scales.
