Hi all,

I haven't posted in a very long time... Just had to brag with my latest addition. My new albino Naja kaouthia - Monocled Cobra

Am saving up for a male, and a pair of Suphans.

NOTE: the super white tail. My black berry pics don't do her justice. Definitely the looker out of the clutch.

I like the substrate in the first pic lol, Carpet Mulch......

If it's possible, from where did you obtain her, was it your clutch from where she came or another breeder's ?

Thanks all.. Appreciate the comments.

LoL @ Microlepidotus.. As long as there's no musking or anything funny on the carpet mulch, then the wife's ok with it.

You can give Craig van Rensburg a pm or a call. I think he's Pythonodipsas on the forum. There are still a couple of beauties left I think!

I still can't believe that there are people who think this is an "easy" or "placid" Naja to keep. (Reading on international forums) I've kept South African Naja, and a person is quick to think I may survive a bite because there's respirators and antivenom available. Monocled's are fast and deadly animals.. Apparently a ventilator just won't cut it to keep you alive... No room for error.

Be safe all.

So you the lucky guy who got the one with the white tail. When I got hold of Craig it was already sold so had to settle for a male from the same clutch! Well, you right, they are fast but also seems to have some intelligence, when mine is not curled up in its hide it sort of sits under another artificial log and watches through a hole in the log what I am doing, like changing the water or cleaning the cage, he has like come close and I push him away with the hook stick and he will move away but no spreading a hood and hissing like when I first got him..! I will be looking for a female soon..! :smt023

Haha, sorry diamondbck.. I hear allot of people were looking for this female. I need a male soon.

You are corrct in saying how intelligent they are. Nothing like forest cobra's though, but still sneeky!!!

Mine is still pissy and huffy. I have her in a rack system with a proper hide. I fed her earlier today and the feeding response is just like my forest! She comes flying out mouth open biting anything she can get hold of!!!! Spectacular Naja... All the best for finding a female.

Haha, ok.
If she WAS a spitter, would the wife be ok with some dried cytotoxic venom on the carpet mulch :smt021 :D lol ?

As long as the venom was on the carpet and against the wall and not in my eyes, I'm sure she wouldn't mind! lol

(I would never handle a spitter in-house though, other than the snake room)

This lady is in the blue now. She has been feeding like a machine since I got her, so i'm looking forward to her growing like a weed!!! Will be getting a male for her soon, even if its a normal wild type.

Will update pics of her monthly and post them here on this thread!
