I know this thread is starting to get a little long in the tooth, but it will continue till either she has babies or till the end of March when we can reasonably say it was just a figment of my imagination.

She shed on 26 January 2012, and I am hoping that this means that she will give birth around the end of February.

Here is the latest pic taken 04 February 2012, notice how thin the top third of her body is against the bottom two thirds.

I also went to feeding records and she has had 1 Jumbo rat per Month for the last 6 months, I therefore doubt this is a case of her being fat.

Thanks for the comments Dean and Uncut Diamonds. Rishaad was at my place on Sunday evening and he also said that she is Gravid as well as agreeing that the pics do not show a true reflection of just how big she is. My nerves are finished now.

This morning as per usual practice before going to work I checked on my snakes to find that the Female Dumerill had given birth during the night.
Sadly the results left me devestated, 13 Slugs, 1 Still Born and 1 Live but very weak Baby. I will take pics tonight if the little one is still alive and post tonight.

It would seem that after 4 failed seasons, the male is firing blanks so to speak. I will give her a year break and then speak to Byron and put her with one of his proven breeder males, and see what happens. Alternately, I need to buy a male of at least 2 years old between now and May 2013.

Sorry to hear Roland.
At least she was able to get everything out, my female dropped one dead baby then stopped and after having the mess taken out by the vet she died a week later.

Oh no so sad to hear. Hope the live one survives!
Why are some males just "less fertile" than others? Is it just natures way or could something have happened?
Also what is the chances of infertile eggs from the female?

A few people have told me of infertile or less virulant males.
My theory in this particular case is that on two seperate occasions in his life, this male was placed on Anti-biotics for an RI.
I reckon this has something to do with his seemingly low sperm count.

I just hope the little one makes it.

So much excitement all for nothing. Yes I would suggest you rest this male and just put in a stud male. Remember that he must not smell that another male was near her or he could take it out on her and kill her.

Single males should not be too difficult to find however they might also not be studs. I would say get a youngster as a future breeder and then borrow a stud for one year. The female is producing the goods.

Now just feed her up again for next season.

Thanks Arno, she is going to go with Byrons proven stud male next year.

The little one is a lot stronger and seems almost a bit dehydrated.

Byron advised me that when I got home after work yesterday, and if I found the Umbilical still attached, to tie it off as close to the body as possible, with either suturing thread or plain old white sewing cotton. This is to speed up the umbilical dropping off and to prevent infection.

Anyway, I did this and received a lovely little bite from the little one, this caused much joy to my whole family, because where there is fight there is life. Within an hour and a half of tying the umbilical, it dropped off and by this morning the belly slit was virtually closed.

Here is a pic of "HOPE", which we as a family have decided to keep if it makes it.
