Madagascan Tree Boas

Madagascan Tree Boas

Does anyone know if there are any of these snakes in SA?

I have seen quite a few of the Ground Boas but no Tree Boas.

Anyone keeping/breeding them?

There are a few lying around here and there in private collections. Montecasino had some last time I was there.

I don't know of any successful breedings. I think they can be difficult to breed.

I saw some on Friday night again. I have no idea if they were mating but they should become available in the next year or two. Dont bluff yourself that they will be cheap though.

Ground boas are rarer to get because they have tiny clutches (sometimes only one or two babies) and can also be difficult to breed.

Dumerils are the most common, not just here but internationally too. It is possible to hybridize the Dumerils with Ground boa. I have seen a few of these crossbreeds in South Africa so be careful if you buy the Ground boas locally.

While I do have a Dumeril's boa, I just found out that Madagascar tree boas exist as well. Was there any progress with the later species? I wonder if it would be possible to keep both species in the same (bigger) enclosure.

I had a long time serveral spieces of the Madagascar Tree boas, you have the Brown own also called Noisy-e the green one and the dwarf there are grey with white or yellow.
I self breed the green and the dwarf with white.
They are easy to breed, the best is to keep them one in a terrarium and put them together only for the breeding then
If they are old (3 years) breeding is not a problem.
I will sent some pictures.

Do you still breed them? What would you sell them for?

Unfortunately Heloderma lives in Europe so I doubt it would be possible to import. Would love to see some photos too. I have 2 females, a mandarin and green phase and I'm looking for males for them soooo... please, if anyone within reach has a male, let's talk..

With the right papiers (CITES) I can send breeding to SA, no problem.
All of my breeding I can trade with yor brreding animals.
My wish is always trading with breeding of your SA snakes.
Here some pictures of the grey ones.
Normal the breeding of Sanzinia's are red, but the babies of the grey ones are grey like the big ones.
Max. size is about 1,2 mtr.

I would love to try and import these and see how long the paperwork takes. Being CITES app I somehow I dont think this will ever be done.

The paperwork is the same like Dumerilli Boas, also CITES 1.
And I saw there hare a lot of people in SA wich has this kind of snake.
If somebody wants to import them and needs help ,give a mail.
I can get every spieces of snake with paperwork for you.
Takes maybe some time, but I have many contacts with reptilefriends in Europa, otherwhise
come visit the reptileshow in Hamm,Germany the biggest one in the world, there you can get everything.
When I visit the Shows in USA, two months later many of those stands are also in Hamm.

Very interesting pictures indeed. That species is def. on my wish-list.
I also wonder, whether they can be combined with dumeril boas. I am thinking here of a setting where the dumeril inhabits the floor areas, while the M-Tree-Boa is the higher parts. I heard that Dumerils are sometimes cannibals.

And these tree boa's apparently do do some hunting on the ground, so I think that would be a bad idea all together.
