A top south african climber picked up a small snake he surmised was a blind snake. Unfortunelty it was not and was something with a little more kick...

Painful mistake he made. Luckily he listen to the proper advice and he is recovering very nicely. If they had cut him open like they were going to he would have had more pain, more medical expenses and scars which he does not need. Not to mention the fact that they possibly could have weakened his arm, which as a rock climber you cannot really afford to do.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.

Good advice Arno, surgeons earn when they cut so thats what they do even if not necessary.

A friend of mine once picked up a juvenile puff adder, didnt bite the person, but she was very embarressed with the %^$ out session I gave her....

And yes they are all on permit.
