Hey Tongwe

Could you please give us some background on the lizard?

Where was it found? Was it field collected on seen in a shop?

Thanx

It looks like Pachydactylus oshaughnessyi, O'Shaughnessy's Thick-toed Gecko, on first glance, but until we have the area it came from, I cannot be sure.

Hi
To me it looks more like a juvenile Good's Gecko(Pachydactylus goodi)
mostly found in the western parts of SA. It is a very nice find :)

I guess they do look similar, but P. goodi does not have a smooth tail and has rougher tubercles.

@Westley - a mate of mine has also identified it as Pachydactylus Capensis oshaughnessyi, a subspecies of the cape gecko.

In that case it's definitely Pachydactylus oshaughnessyi. It is no longer a subspecies, but it elevated to full species status.

Gorgeous little gecko. Thanx for sharing. Please share pics of any other finds you have have too.
