Irian Jaya 2012 Breeding

Irian Jaya 2012 Breeding

Postby Bushbaby » Tue Oct 16, 2012 8:00 pm

Earlier this year I noticed my Irian Jaya Carpet Python female went off her food. I was not sure if I should try breed her this year, or wait till next year, but then decided she must be ready if she is not eating. I put her in with the male and not even 5 minutes later they were all over each other and locked up.

Today I came home to a very nice site of my female around some eggs. I just had to share!!

Now the long wait....

That is great, well done and congrats.
13 eggs from an IJ is a decent clutch, anything over 10 eggs is nice.

Well done. How old is your girl.

Everyone else gets so excited and I am thinking now I have to get another rack for the babies. I dont mind though.

The female is from wild caught parents and the male is an unrelated locally bred one so the babies should be strong.

Thanks.

Shaun P, if memory serves me well, she should be around 4 years old now.

Congrats BB, they are awesome.
I think they will be just as light as mom, the one in the middle under the other one looks nice.

Thanks.

Unfortunately it seems the others either stopped developing during development stages or drowned in the eggs. There were 3 fully developed ones which didnt cut & we cut too late. Really sad :(
