Hi, I'm trying to find a pair of these remarkable creatures, (Red-Eyed Crocodile Skink/Tribolonotus gracilis) I have searched most of Gauteng, but there is not much information based on these skinks in South Africa. Do you know of any Import/Export companies that I could try pay and talk to, so I could start breeding these in the country?

I have to agree...uniquely beautiful. Wonder why they are not more frequently kept by hobbiests. Perhaps they are protected...or difficult to keep.

I have read up alot on these little guys, apparently they are pretty easy to keep! You can even keep a pair together, and then even a family. Very docile, shy and nocturnal. But the main reason as to why they are rare, is that they were only found in 1994, still, we should have them in this country by now. They are very popular in the European countries.

I saw some for sale earlier in the classifieds but I am inclined to think it was a scam. They have been imported before however these are usually wild caughts and they dont do well in captivity.

Thank you for the feedback, the news makes me sad. However, I'm sure I can say among the rest of the members, never to support wild-caught. :)

Contact Animaniacs, they might be able to organise some if you pay up front. Or contact some guys in Europe and handle the importing yourself, you just need to find a Quarantine facility

Hi,
Did anyone find the red eyed crocodile skinks in south Africa yet?

I saw them at a pet shop at Hillcrest once but when I contacted them, they said they didn't have any and they never sold them before
