Hi Guys,

Unfortunately my Rwanda-burundi topic will be in stand by for a few time as I left Rwanda a couple of weeks ago, I still have to update a couple of photos on that specific threat though.
Anyway, I'm in the western cape now and I'll keep this threat for every species I found. I will also need your help for Id's as I'm not really well documented yet with your species.
Anyway here are a few pictures of some finds. All the snake picture were taken in a small "snake park" in george (victorias bay).

That would be a banded Snouted Cobra - Naja annulifera. They were re-classified, Naja haje is the Egyptian Cobra.

Super photos Kenny, I look forward to your next additions.

Wil you be studying at MMNU, Saasveld?
That toad looks look a karoo toad or a raucous toad (they not in the Bufo genus anymore)
The rock rabbit is a Dassie (Rock Hyrax).

Great pics Kennt, and welcome to SA!

That Mole snake looks ready to take you head off! Gotta love their attitude.

I think you second skink is Trachylepis capensis, so another species to add to you list.

Looking forward to all your finds.

Thank you everybody for the kind comments.

I bought myself a book on frogs of south africa, and manage to find the right id for the taod which would be Amietophrynus Rangeri. And I had a better look at the second Trachelepis and it is definitely T.Capensis.

Can the first Trachelepis be a Trachelepis homalocephala ?

Leopard guecko the sting ray was seen at Mossel Bay.

Yes Jka Nature con.

Thanks again

Kenny,

Stunning photography! I love the boomslang close up and the Cape Cobra. Do you live in the Cape Town area? I am actually from Georgia USA and am planning a trip to SA in March. Would you be willing to show me a few snakes while I'm there? I will be in Cape Town on March 20/21 and then head up to the bush. Any reptile species will be a lifer for me so I am easy to please.

Thanks Austin ;)

Cherper It would have been a pleasure but as KFC said I'm very far from Cap town.
I have to say that your picture of the hognose is absolutly stuning but I would like to keep this threat on snakes of the region only so if somoene else come and quickly look at the picture and see hognose, cotton-mouth in a Western cape topic it is not right ... Would you mind creating a new post with these pictures and even more if you have ? I would love to see some of your herps.
Can an admin remove the exotic snake picture from this topic please ?
Thank you.

Kind regards
