Peruvian flame rump - eating issue

Peruvian flame rump - eating issue

Postby gekosin » Tue Mar 19, 2013 8:35 am

Good Day All

Our peruvian flame rump has not eaten for 3 weeks now... It is starting to look rather skinny as well... She molted last week which would explain why she didn't eat but she still missed the previous feed and this past Sunday to...

I have checked the temps as it is starting to get cooler I also spray twice a week to keep the humidity up...

Any advice?? We are currently feeding her small crickets...

A drop in temperature could be the cause for her not eating. Try putting a small heating pad against one of the cages sides and see if that helps.

Your spider can go with out food for months with no issue.
My spiders only get feed every 15 days.
If they don't eat on feeding day they will only get feed again on 30 days.

Just give the spider a chance. it has just molted out.

When tarantulas go into per-molt they will stop eating.
that is the reason why the spider missed her meals before her molt.

How big is the spider in question?

That is still small.
Sometimes spiders do stop eating and go on a hunger strike.

You can also try feeding it per-killed prey item.
just remove the next day if not eaten or it can cause mould.

But try feeding the spider in a couple days time.

Yes, that is me.
I saw your threads after I had replied to this thread, so did not worry about re-posting it on Tarantulas.
