Some finds Vaal Rand Gauteng

Did a bit of road cruising the last few days, did not find much as the nights are getting cold.
Not the best photography but hope you enjoy. I must really invest in a SLR camera and ditch the cellphone

Hope you enjoyed, the Night Adders were found a km from each other on the same road, note
the different coloration between the two.

That Rinkhals looks awesome.

Maybe its just me, but do the last 3 look a bit thin (especially the Brown House Snake)?

Those snakes do not look like they are going to last a winter hibernation. That is rather worrying. This time of the year they should be nice and fat. The Rinkhals looks fine and the night adder might make it but I dont think the house snake will.

What did the habitat look like near where they were found? Would it be ethical to take them to "better" localities?

BV the habitat, well it is mostly farm land, the road where I found these is normally full off snakes. There are a few farm dams around the area and also has some rocky parts.
I normally find snakes almost everyday and night when I am working. I can not understand why the snakes look like this because on the road you also find lots of frogs and mice running over the road etc. which is
a good indication that food is available.

Here are two Snakes I got on the almost exact same location the previous week.I released them away from the road so there will be no chance to be hit by vehicles.

Lamprophis aurora

The Aurora also looks undernourished.

For me (living in Germany) it´s unbelievable to find so much snakes in nature.
I wished it would be normal for us too.
Hope you understand my english.
