ID confirmation needed.

Hi guys,

I’ve just received an email from my boss back in SA asking what snake is this? When I saw the photo I didn’t even want to answer, maybe someone else was responsible - "keep calm".
The photo were taken in KZN, Let’s see for a guy living in Pommy land if I got this right (I know it isn’t a hard one) Im saying it’s a Cape house snake (Boaedon capenis).

Ive told him I`ll get back to him and said I hope it wasnt him that killed the snake.
Thanks guys.

Shame, that snake doesn't look dead, only very seriously injured.

Yeah, it's B. capensis

LOL you're not serious, are you? Throwing a snake in a deep freezer cause a slow and painful death and in my eyes very cruel! If you don't believe me go and do your homework.

On a different note, last time my boss visited and Id showed him my collection, he mentioned that his boys are also interested in reptiles and wanted to buy them snake handling equipment. I just got a great idea, who in KZN (Durban) offers the Snake ID, Snake bite and handling course? I know they would be very interested.

Received news today, the snake has been humanely put to sleep by the Vet. Much better than being thrown in a freezer, I think.

Viv1, freezing any animal is an incredibly cruel form of euthanasia. It's a topic discussed in great detail on several occasions within the forums, use the search function and read a bit about it.

Very sad to hear it did not survive. Hopefully they will get educated and prevent a similar occurrence in future??

Yip same here. My boss came to the snake`s "rescue" after his kids told him that the neighbours kids caught a snake. It sounds like the snake got injured when the kids tried moving some pot plants to get to the snake. Very stupid thing to do, trying to catch snake if you don’t even know if its venomous or not, and I told my boss "What IF...."). Luckily I didn`t lashed out at my boss at first, thinking it was him. I remembered he came to my house once to look at my BP collection and he even handled a few. I’d suggested he must book a Snake ID and handling course for him and his kids.
