attempting to rescue these beardies

attempting to rescue these beardies

Postby Mr Jingles » Thu Jun 27, 2013 8:16 pm

My heart is breaking for these 2 beardies. They are currently at a petshop and I have requested the owner twice now to surrender them to me. He is not so excited by the prospect yet. I am going to bug him until he surrender them to me. Even told my vet to be ready when I bring them in. They are held in a cage with only a 2.0 UV light, and no basking light. They are filthy and the one have a overbite and the other seems to have some type of fungi on her chin. Any suggestions as to what I can do to change his mind?

Hate seeing animals in petshops that look like that... Makes me furious!
3-1-4 Leopard Gecko
1-1-2 Bearded Dragon
0-1 Brown House Snake
2-3 Ball Python
1-1 Western Hognose
1-1 Kenyan Sand Boa
3-2 Corn Snake
0-0-1 Bosc Monitor
0-1 Taiwanese rat snake

I share the exact same thoughts as lillypod on that. Grinds me to the bone.

Yip that is correct, it is pet and bird farm. I'm really trying my best to get these two out there. The others look fine and are cleaner than these 2. I'm going there again after work today

Obviously these were sold or given to the shop to resell. This is where the management should decide to not display such crappy animals until they are fit and healthy. That is how they get a bad name even though they did not raise the animals. Remove them from display and try to get them right. Try to suggest that to the owner and explain that once they are perfect he can have them back for sale. If they never "come right" then you have yourself some beardies.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Apperantly they are not for sale. The owner receivec them quite a while back, and in his own words dont really knows how to care for them. Hopefully his vet was there yesterday afternoon after i told him to have his vet look at them . Will go see him just now after work. They were merely dropped off by somebody who did not want them anymore
