Hog island and rubber boas

Hog island and rubber boas

Postby sildargod » Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:21 am

Hi all,

Does anyone breed these species in South Africa? I am looking to get some slender bodied mini-boas and these fit the bill perfectly, but they aren't something one sees often, but I am sure someone out there must have interest in them too.

Thanks in advance!

Hogg Island Boas are around but are still fairly pricey.

I would suggest you look out for Rosy Boas. They are in the same group of Central American "mini boas" are are more readily available.

Can't say I've ever seen Rubber Boas around locally.

Good luck

The last pair of Rubber boas I saw were with a friend who was murdered about 10 or 12 years ago. I dont think they are still around.

Besides Hog island boas there might be some dwarf Central American boas this season. They are from Nicaragua and are T+ albinos so they are also called caramel albinos. The babies are tiny and adult average around 1.2 metres when they breed. Hold thumbs and you might be lucky.

They dont look like the albinos we know.

Arno, is this boa one of your/BB's snakes?

Do you have any that aren't special morphs? I'm a big fan of their natural colouration, and would prefer a normal phase rather than in an albino phase.

They look great though!

Nope sorry there are only 7 of these in the country to my knowledge and they are either T+ albinos or Motley T+ albinos. Yip Westley we have them all :)

Possibly there will be Hog Island boas which are a naturally occurring hypo morph in their natural state.
