Spider bite...

Postby Lillypod » Wed Oct 16, 2013 9:26 am

I'm pretty sure I was bitten by a spider about two weeks ago. It started out as 2 small dots that look like a tiny vampire bite, but it itched like hell! Then a few days after that it made a bubble which popped and had some clear liquid in. Well... now it looks horrible and makes me even more self-conscious of my body :smt010 . I have a huge big red itchy spot on my stomach and it swelled a bit... Should I go to the doc or can I get something from the pharmacy?

I'm going to add a pic even though I feel embarrassed.

That is definetly a reaction to something, could be from a bite or some kind of rash.
A pharmacy might tell you to see a doctor,
Doctor will probaly prescribe some corticosteroids(prednisone) and a topical cream.

Is it spreading at all?
Maybe a doctors visit is in order.

It really sounds like an infection from most probably a spider bite. Or even some tropical fly that laid eggs...(sorry!) I've seen and heard of this before, the two dots, the bubble and then the spreading.
A topical cream, some cortisone / steroids even and antibiotics to prevent it from infecting the rest of your body any further. The itching is a tell tale sign that the bacteria / venom (?) are still very active. Please rather be safe than sorry and consult your GP? The sooner the better, before the skin dies and you end up with a permanent scar or even worse. Best of luck

That mark is not an effect of the venom. That is possibly the effect of a bacteria or possibly even a fungus. I would have it seen to but it will not a big deal.

Please get over your self consciousness about your body. In my line of work I have seen some people who get listed as "Most eligible ... or top 100 body ..." and trust me that have just as many issues about their bodies. Get to love your own body. Respect it and dont abuse it. Try to keep it as trim or muscular as what you can afford. In 40 years time nobody is going to care what your body looks like or even what it looked it.

Let us know how it turns out.

Hehe. Thanks Bushviper. Will try. :)

Anyway, back from the doc, he says the spider bite cause a fungus growth and he gave me some antibiotics and a cream to put on. Not a fan of antibiotics, but will have to drink it even if it makes me sick. It's just 5 days.

Hey Monique, the antibiotics shouldn't make you sick. Get some yoghurt and have some everyday while you are on the antibiotics. The cultures in the yoghurt will help to replace the essential ''good'' bacteria in your system :)

The Doc gave me some Pro-B5 as well, apparently it will do the same as yogurt. This year alone I've been on antibiotics 6 times (including this time)!!

Yeah that's a sure sign it was not a spider.
