Looking at breeding

Looking at breeding

Postby pytoxic » Wed Nov 06, 2013 5:08 pm

Hey guys.
I have been wanting to breed snakes for a while now and I decided on corns, I changed my mind because for some reason I don't like corns so I decided on BHS.
Just a few questions.
1. How much are the normals?
2. Would they be fine in a display cage about 800 x 400 x 400?
3. Do I need to go through brumation ?

Many thanks
Nic

Normals are cheap, problem is very few people want them. It took me forever to sell yearlings and I was selling at R50. I ended up selling my breeding pair for R250 (for both snakes). I'll say go for some morphs instead.

I'm pretty sure creatures had albino's and sometimes Something Exotic Pets & Aquatics have as well. I'm really not sure on the price. Why don't you wait for the reptile expo on 14 and 15 December?

Hi Nic,

You can contact Chantel (She's in PMB). She has tons and tons of corn snake morphs. Drop her a PM or I can send you her price list but this will be the list I received from her in Feb this year so prices and quantities may have changed but at least you'll have an idea. Send me your email via PM if you want the list.

He mentioned he is not too keen on Corns.

Good to see more people interested in Housies, I had quite the collection at one stage and produced quite a few different mutations.

Take a look at some of the stuff I hatched out.

Thanks kfc!
I see you have quite a lot of experience in this. Could you PM me Chantels number please.
I have always had a thing for housies, my first 2 snakes were wild caught housies so...
Many thanks
Nic

Hi Nic

Costs of housie morphs are around:
R50 - R100 for normals
R200 - R300 for Albinos
R300 - R400 for Ghosts
R450 - Hybinos

These are more or less guide prices, and may vary from breeder to breeder.

I would budget on R500-R700 per pair, I'm not sure if guys would have hatchlings yet since it might be a bit early fo eggs hatching.

Rolf should have some available, you can give him a call to ask what he will have available.

Ghosts are around R450 each, and butters are very very expensive.
