I doubt that she will be like Kizzie, The first clutch is doing fine I reckon they will hatch soon.

Eggs hatched

Postby Hennie » Mon Jan 21, 2008 1:21 pm

My BHS layed 8 eggs in November 2007 and 4 of them hatched about a week ago. One of the hatchlings has shedded but none of them has started eating yet. How long before I can expect them to eat and will they manage a pink? On 6 January 2008, she layed another 5 eggs. It's my first relative success and I need a bit of advice. Thanks.

They usually start feeding after their first shed but if they are housed together it may stress them and cause them not to feed I wouldn't start to worry yet give all of them time to shed and try to feed them.

I'm really excited I have hatched my first snake. If everyone hatches I will try to get a "group photo" I don't want to over do it.

My original female died, but this year I bred her daughter which is the 2008 keeper in the above pics.

This is the first clutch that hatched, I'm waiting on her second clutch to hatch:

Im also really into the browns, my browns collection is growing rapidly...My one and only surviving egg from an entire clutch finally hatched yesterday. Will post pics. This was my females first ever clutch and she is about 8 years old, so ill see if she produces some better eggs next time, most of them were thin and spirally? Great topic this, great pics of some really awesome snakes :D

I found a really small brown house snake about three nights ago and it looked like it had eaten something. i decided to keep it (not sue of it's gender) because i already have some other snakes. I'm just wandering how long it'll go without eating i have tried feeding it pinky pieces and a whole live one. It but onto the dead pinky and then after a while let go. I just don't want it to die and I dont want to release it cos i have always wanted one, can anyone help me please?

Small house snakes are always a bit tricky to get feeding, wild caught snakes sometimes even more.
They are really inexpensive, so it wont be a problem for you to buy a well started captive bred house snake.

Where are you situated?

Yeah, they bite at first, but tame down quickly, and the bite is nothing to worry about. Congrats and good luck mate.
