New Draft Gauteng Legislation

Postby Inyanga » Fri Feb 07, 2014 12:58 pm

Hey guys

Here’s the newest draft, please forgive me if there are format errors, I had to convert from .pdf cos the forum won’t accept the format.

Please note that feeder insects are now banned OUTRIGHT, and the sections previously conflicting with the Criminal Procedures Act have been changed (they now need a warrant ect.)

Remember, you can still RSVP, although its the last day!

Does anyone know what the outcome was? Or when we will know?

I have asked for a meeting with one of the Directors at Nature Conservation. Hopefully this will be written off as a typing error and all will be well with the world again.

Do not get too excited and make any threats. We are on top of this and will work our way to an amicable solution.

The formal meeting is scheduled for this Friday.

They got a bit of a hiding! In the words of BV:

"WE WON THE FIRST ROUND. The message was that this draft Nature Conservation Bill was going to be passed and we were just being informed. Then they said we could make written comments and then after I stated a few facts and had the support of many other like minded people the MEC has given us two weeks to send comments after which another meeting will be held. Round One - The pet trade!!! Thank you to everyone who attended as well as everyone who signed the petition. We appreciate it. Please spread this message to all the forums that are affected. We will co-ordinate the comments and ensure that they are acknowledged and taken into consideration. Watch this space." - Bushviper

Please bear in mind today is the last day to submit comments regarding the draft legislation.

Email it all to abimbola.olowa@gauteng.gov.za

Good morning forum members

Please follow the link to the latest draft of the legislation. We have 30 days to submit any further thoughts.

From a provisional first reading of the document, and with my admittedly limited grasp of legalese it certainly appears that an effort has been made to address our concerns in this draft. It all boils down to what is on the list the minister must issue (I think).
