A Temperature Controller?

A Temperature Controller?

Hi guys,

This might be a dumb question, but how necessary is it getting a Temperature Controller for a heat pad?

Depends, if you want to simulate the animals environment really good, and breed the reptile, then it is pretty necessary. Also if you are planning to get more, and make a rack system, I would recommend getting one. The snake can live without it, but if you have one, it is always better.

AshSmulian, normal heat pad get WAAAAYYY too hot for snakes and can even cause fires when simply left one.

In my opinion the R400 you spend on a Thermostat is one of the most crucial purchases you make when getting any reptile pet. If you search for "thermostat" on the forum you will get loads of topics where the importance of it is highlighted.

One snake or 100, get a thermostat.

Reptile, your information was not bad, but once you smell your first fried/bloated snake due to a heat mat malfunction, you will also swear by a thermostat ;)
