Postby Tars » Fri Dec 05, 2014 7:32 am

Good morning guys and girls,

Does anyone know of any BCC Red Tail Neonates in the market, what would the average selling price for them be more or less?

Thanks.

Really depends on where you buy from. For normals I think you would be looking at anywhere from as low as R450 to around R650. Maybe more, maybe less.

Hi Predator,

Thanks for the reply, I am aware of pricing for normals and know of a few people I can get from, but I am specifically looking for BCC which is quite scarce.

I have seen BCC's selling at around R4500-R6500 if I am not mistaken. They are rare and I have not come across any on the market at the moment.

Thanks for the reply guys, unfortunately it seems like my quest for a BCC will not be successful as they are still very scarce in the market.

I have however found a very nice Hetero for Hypo/Albino male this weekend that I will be pairing up with a gorgeous Albino girl in a few years time, they are both about 3 months of age now..

Just a quick note, your het albino definitely has some BCC genetics, possibly an intergrade.

The widow peaks are way to prominent for a typical BCI.

Hi Wes,

Thanks for confirming man, I also thought so because most of his siblings had the same sort of saddles, just not as prominent as this guy and his tail has a much brighter "RED" tail than the picture depicts, didn't want to say anything though as I'm not as clued up as most of you guys, but I'm very pleased with him, he's gorgeous!!!

Thanks Predator, I am very proud of them, cant wait to see what the coloration on them does as they grow up.

It will be another 3 years until I can breed them, but I am sure it will be worth the wait!!

You cannot get "het for Hypo" because that is a co-dom gene so what you have there is just a normal cross breed and possibly only 25% Bcc in any case. That would make me wonder whether was telling the truth about it being het albino as well. Not worth putting on an albino female.
What bothers me is that 3 months ago was basically still winter and boas do not give birth in winter.

Bushviper, is hypomelanism also co-dominant in corn snakes ? I ask because the online calculators I've used reckon a hypo male with a het amelanistic female will result in all offspring being het hypo ?

Corn snake mutations are all recessive (except only one or possibly two). In boas mutations like albino and anerythistic are recessive as well but they have many co-dominant or incomplete dominant mutations which include hypo (same as salmon), motley, jungle etc.

Hi BV,

Thanks for the input, did not know that, I learn everyday!!

I was told it was born on the 10th of September, now how true that is I am not to sure, may be younger?? I have seen the mother which was an albino and the father was a hypo, that is the pair that was shown to me, there was some nice hypo neonates in the batch as well.

Nevertheless, I still adore him, I think he is beautiful and am quite happy with him, I am not to focused on breeding as I mainly keep them for pets but if they do breed that would be a bonus.
