Substrate

Postby tobiasf » Sat Mar 14, 2015 7:17 pm

Hi All,

I have purchased today some corn cob substrate. Will this be suitable for my snakes when they defecate to remove that part in its cage and replace with new ones?

Thanks

Corn Cob works well and usually clumps together when the snake has defecated, just don't feed the snake on the corn cob, because often the little pieces get stuck in the mouth.

Thanks, I have been giving them food in a different cage and then putting them back in to their own cage afterwards

Corn cob has some drawbacks.

Use the search function in the top right-hand corner of the page and see if you can find some older discussions on the forum.

Thanks Westley for coming back I always used newspapers or paper towels but I would like to change to a more natural look aswell. What would you suggest for my kingsnakes as the preferred substrate.

I would never use Corn cob.
Rather use E-Mulch if you are looking for something more natural but that is also not a great substrate with some drawbacks.
