My Phyllium tobeloense "Galela" recently started hatching and I was pleasantly surprised by the hatching rate, must be above 90%!
I have always had a yearning to keep these and finally got the chance and so far the have been doing great on Guava leaves. I also tried mango leaves but they did not seem too interested.
They are born blackish (like most Phyllium sp.) with light coloured bands and quickly change to uniform green within a week or so.
Here are some pics of the newly hatching nymphs, the are about 10-15mm
Are here are some of the larger ones, which are around 15-20mm.
I have two other species of leaf insect incubating so fingers crossed they start hatching soon.
