Is the Market flooded?

Postby immaculate geckos » Fri Feb 12, 2016 11:17 am

I recently took to breeding Leos for numerous reasons I thought they would be at the top of the list of pet reptiles.

I have since advertised on gum tree Facebook this site and asked a few pet shops.

I have not managed to sell a single gecko.

is there any one who has had more experience.

who can tell me what the market is doing currently.

I have never bred or traded in Leos, but I think you are right saying the market is flooded, but not for the reason one might expect.

Usually when the market is flooded it is due to an over-supply, but I think the problem with Leos right now is the fact that the supply has been relatively steady, while the demand has dropped leading to the market being flooded.

Judging by recurring ads and significant price drops on the forum as well as on online classifieds one can assume the same is happening to most reptiles.

The trick is to sell the experience of keeping animals not the animal itself. Then the demand is endless.
