Platannas and where to find them?

Postby Umbra » Sat Feb 11, 2017 10:09 pm

I already made a post regarding this issue, but it is in a section that almost seems to be... a little dead? So I'm just posting this here in the amphibian section too, to make sure.

Is there a place in the gauteng area near meyerton where I can find platannas? I have recently caught one and since I am unable to release it I settled with keeping it instead and it got me interested in keeping a few more since mine is in a large tank and the tank looks a little empty with just the one.

Thanks for any help guys.

Pretty much any stream, waterfilled ditch, or large puddle will have them in hordes during summer time. Best to go at night, with a cheap net (like you get at a toyshop) and a torch, you should easily find plenty.

And just to be sure, they are perfectly legal to keep as pets, right? I don't want to go breaking the law, lol.

All animals in South Africa are protected... I'm sure you will look after them well.

So I HAVE to let it go? I'm going to let it go anyways by the way since the drama is too much, but yeah, lol.

Thanks :)
