Boadicea you need to spend a bit of time with those Mangrove snakes. They will possibly not take rodents immediately. Small birds, lizards or geckos and frogs would possibly work better. Give them lots of hiding places (budgie nest boxes) and lots of foliage hanging down that they can hide behind.

I was really impressed with the expo yesterday (could only make it yesterday afternoon). It looked bussier than the previous years, and it seemed as if they had more exhibitors. A job done well.

I browsed some of the stands... I didn't want to get led into temptation, but there were the most amazing looking crested geckos! One day when I'm big!!! Truelly stunning. Loved the Albino Boa, but I don't need a male, so defenitaly gave that one a miss, but a really good looking snake.

@BV: Thanks for the advice. Do you think that scenting mice with frogs or lizards would work? The guy I bought them from said they even eat eggs and will take quail's eggs. I don't know how true this is. Maybe I could scent mice with egg? Will gladly spend the time with them. They are very interesting snakes and I want them to do well and have lots of babies :)

Loved the expo this weekend !

Saw some things I've only ever seen in books...

My gf was quite put off by all the inverts there but she still had a good time as well.

Bought a breeding pair of purple mangrove vipers.

Very chuffed as I tried feeding on Sunday and they ate no problem... Yay !

Thanks to all the people involved in making it such a success !

One q though, were ther any food or drink stands ? I didn't see any...

@Quasimoto, Dragonfire had that one for sale, R10 000 - Which I think was a bargain :)

@insaniac, Yes, but they were downstairs.

Food was downstairs at the pits.

Tyron and Paul from Dragonfire were selling the albino and het albino boas.

Vermillion there are 3 expos like that every year. The biggest will be at Emperors palace again next year.

Boadicea they do sometimes take eggs as well but small nestling rodents or birds such as quail placed in an abandoned birds nest (which you freeze and then spray with reptile mite spray before putting it in) seems to get them going well. They are pretty used to raiding nests and the smell of a used nest gets them excited.
