Hi there all....

Great to finally meet a community in south africa that cares so much for reptiles :)

Well today i ordered my bearded dragons with cage lighting e.t.c i will diffently be uploading pics for all of you to see :)

I use to keep iguanas but school had to take preference so i had to sell them now im back in the reptile world with bearded dragons :)
The bearded dragon im receiving tomoro is 2 years old.. I would like to get a partner for it, So here comes my first question?

Is it a problem if i get a hatching and put it in the same cage as this 2 year old beardie?

And yes i will eventually be wanting to breed bearded dragons so all help is appreciated :) Thanks and look forward to getting know all of you :)

Welcome to the site. and yes this will be an issue, as the bigger one might consider the smaller one, a tasty-tit-bit. dont do it

Welcome Vermillon,

I agree with arcadies, definitely not a good idea...

Had a mte whp thought h'e buy two young males for his female and the next day, he found both males were gone and the female was twice as fat as the day before...

Hi Vermillon

Wait and see what sex the one is you are getting and then try and source one of the opposite sex of a similar size.

It will probably be ok but the risk of him eating it and getting impacted is there, it's your choice though.

Okay here is a pic of my beardie :) I have named him rammstein.

Image

Here is his enclosure rightnext to my pc :)

Image

Behind this piece of wood is his heating pad i basically want to put the sand over his heating pad because i know this sand will help to make him more warm when he is above it

Image

A picture of the sand i want to use from namibia red sand dunes.
