All in a days work.

This is for anything with regards to reptiles which is not species specific or over a broad band of reptiles. Be it husbandry, caging, etc. you can post it here.

All in a days work.

As some of you may know the person who actually does all the breeding at Creatures and Critters in Durban is a man by the name of John Chinn. Yesterday he phoned me and while we were chatting he happened to mentioned what had been born or hatched in just one day.

Here is the picture proof.

Some second generation captive bred Rhinocerus vipers. He bred the parents as well by the way.

and the babies separated out already shedding

Then there was a batch of albino sinaloans that hatched.

Image

The Kenyan sand boas also had babies.

Image

Image

and then something I have never seen before. Fully striped Bismark ringed pythons. The entire batch was striped.

and he also found out his ball python is gravid but that is still a way off before anything comes of this.

Image

He wanted to take a picture of the baby Blue tongued skink but when he got there the Ridge tail monitor had found it and was busy eating it.

Not bad for a days work?

I am always amazed by Richard and John's setup. It is very professionally done and its a no wonder they breed so much.

Colin if Daddy says yes you can pick them up at the SOS expo because they will be there for that weekend. They also have numerous other species which will be on offer too.

Mittone I think they have all been sold from the egg already. I dont know of any others that have been bred locally. Most were smuggled in at the turn of the new millenium. Very few were legally imported but they did the best because of the quarantine process and the shorter travelling time. These have gone on to produce eggs where many of the others died.
