Re: Is a license needed to sell Leo's in SA

I suggest contacting your local natcon offices to get an official response. Things may have changed, but from what I recall years back, you, as the breeder only need licenses for your animals, and when they breed and you want to sell, you need to apply for a transport permit from your place to the b...

Re: Agama Care

Goodness, that is not ideal! Is it possible to post a picture of your new addition please? Regarding your questions, 1. You are legally not allowed to keep indigenous reptiles without a permit in any province bar KZN (Assume you're based in Cape Town from your username?) 2. I would not release it wi...

Re: Frog bite Durban North

Hi Bruce

I speak under correction, but I dont think Bullfrogs occur around Durban.

Possibly it was an accidental bite? You may find the frog was just trying to escape and ended up with its mouth open.

Also a change it could be one of the larger toads. They can be quite agro!

Re: Red lipped herald in trouble!

Hi Bernice

Are you quite sure the hole has eroded into his gut? If so, that sounds beyond home treatment.

Can you perhaps share a photo or two?

Re: New For The Estate

Nice one.

I have found a sharp decline in the amount of callouts the past year or two, so any callout is a bonus.

Re: Leopard gecko growth/selling on jaw

Hi

This forum is virtually dead so rather dont rely on getting a decent response.

My advise is get the leo to a vet ASAP.

Not sure if you go it this way, but the gecko looks in a very sorry state, even excluding the abscess, so the vet may want to euthanize it.

Good luck.

Re: Egg Eater Wanted!

Hi Jigglypuff The forum is super quiet the past couple months so you likely wont get a bite here. I suggest contacting some of the KZN guys. They often breed Eggies and simply release babies. They can apply for an export permit which will allow you to get a transport permit for the Western Cape. Pro...

Re: Green Housie

Those lineatus are great.

Here's a crappy cellphone photo showing the extent of the striping in the Namaqualand ones. Picture in situ on a stone wall.

And here is the striped capensis. Theyre all striped from head to tail.

Re: Green Housie

Sorry to hijack the topic a bit Ian, but yes, I do GCol.

The following two snakes were found on the same road on the same night. The striped ones are much rarer than the typical mentalis.

Here is the typical mentalis

Re: Mexican (Durango Mountain) Housing King Housing

First off, beautiful snake. In general, snakes are very forgiving when it comes to cage size. I would say if you cage is 0.75-1.5 times the length of your snake, you are set. So for a 900mm snake you can have a 700-1500mm long enclosure. Your choice depends on many things like space at home, budget ...

Re: Green Housie

Ian, do you know if anyone is working with the striped Namaqualand house snakes that are near-identical to the lineatus?

Re: Chameleons in Johannesburg?

Sorry, cant help you on where to find chams, but on why the forum is so quiet, couple of things come to mind: - Hectic spam attacks the forum had just before the collapse - Restrictions put in place to control the spammers preventing sharing on pictures - Other platforms being used more regularly - ...

Re: Chameleons of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Great finds Nick and great photography too.

I happened to have a look at the ToPS list not too long ago and it is sad how little effort went into that document, considering these species with such limited distributions and under such pressure.

Thanx for sharing.
