Re: Exporting Chameleons?

Some have been exported from KZN as captive bred but I somehow do not believe that. Either way it may be possible as many are being exported to the US. I will look to find out who the person is.

Re: Hypo Female Finaly Gravid

Anery is a recessive gene so your female would have to be het anery as well. Amongst the babies there would thus also be ghosts (hypo/aneries) and I dont see any. I think they are just dark babies.

Re: Newbee

What exactly do you need education on. We have snake id and snake bite courses quite regularly and also husbandry course covering the keeping of any reptiles. Keep your eye on the forum and they will pop up from time to time.

Re: An Amateur… In every sense of the word.

Day geckos in the form of Lygodactylus capensis are usually prolific as can be House geckos which are an introduced species.

Re: Albino x Irian Jaya

If that black gene does kick in you can sell these as a poor mans Boelens python. I know I want some this year.

Re: Agama atra care

Yeah keeping them inside is not going to end well for you. They need direct sunlight and will slowly deteriorate.

Buy a bearded dragon and keep that as a pet and just leave the Agamas free in the wild.

Re: Having trouble with Xenops laevis

Probably a fungus. I would add a saline solution to the water if it happens again. Make sure you do not use the same nets for the other tanks or else you will lose them all.

Re: Tadpole ID help.

If the frogs could make it all the way to your pool then the chances are good the local vlei will be suitable for them as soon as they are ready to go.

Re: Deceased Nile crocodiles.

Nope protected species would require a permit as well. You cannot go trade in Rhino horn of cheetah skins but once something like a crocodile has been "processed" then permits are only required when they are exported. Exactly what "processed" means is open to interpretation.

Re: Deceased Nile crocodiles.

Crocodiles are a protected species so you need to make sure you get receipts for the animal in question. Some of the croc farms have the occasional specimen that dies and then you can get this. The ones that are slaughtered will not make a decent specimen due to injury of the bones/skull.

Re: You win some...You lose some...

Westley if it was a hypo it would not have the black eye. Hypo snakes usually have a lighter coloured eye. If you look at leucistic Retics for example then you see they can have a reasonable amount of colour and speckling on them as well (Ivory and Ultra ivory). Some of the leucistic ball pythons al...

Re: "Extra Large" Whip snake from Soyo in Angola

I would not want to take a bite from a specimen that size. It is very heavy (thick set) for such a slender species. I guess being that size allows it to eat other prey not usually associated with Psammophis like Agamas and other large lizards.
