Immigrating with Iguanas

Immigrating with Iguanas

Postby rifter » Thu Oct 28, 2010 8:52 pm

Hi Guys

I'm immigrating to the states with 2 iguanas. Would anyone have any information as to how to get them over there from here.
I've checked the laws on that side and so far so good.

Is there a pet transit company locally which deals with reptiles?

Any info would be great

Thanks

Why do you want to immigrate with your iguanas, except if they are really scares, I'm speaking out of term but isn't it expensive to move these animals with you, I personally would sell them and get new one's when I'm settled in.
as long as you keep quiet, no one will notice that your dumb

Lol, it will be ridiculously expensive. Probably a reputable courier company is your best bet, but I doubt DHL does reptiles.

I dont mind the expense - its like moving a dog/cat. Except they're green and cost a lot more to keep.
Besides, I dont think there is much of a market for 2 spayed 5 year old female igs.

Is someone on this board who exports indigenous reptiles?
Im certain the channels will be similar...

Great to see you care for them so much you are willing to pay the expense! Need more pet owners like you, but still I'd sell them to a good owner if you can find one :D Wont SAA be able to advise you on the matter?

The owner used to be a client of mine but I can tell you they are highly recommended for animal transfers if you look at the pet retail department you would see they take great care of the animals.

So refreshing to hear that someone does not regard their pets as mere possessions to be sold or put down when they emigrate. Good on you!
It is expensive but there are quite a few companies that do this sort of thing. Petwings is one I have recently heard of.

(Oh, and to be correct, the word is "emigrate" if you are leaving the country, not immigrate ;))
Those who have made no mistakes have learned nothing and can teach nothing.
The same is true of those who continue to make the same mistakes.

Dogs cost about R50 000.
If I'm gonna be an old, lonely man, I'm gonna need a thing, you know, a hook, like that guy on the subway who eats his own face. So I figure I'll be Crazy Man with a Snake, y'know. Crazy Snake Man. And I'll get more snakes, call them my babies, kids won't walk past my place, they will run. "Run away from Crazy Snake Man, " they'll shout!”
