Does it hurt? I've never been bitten before and frankly, I'm scared as hell!
The kiss originated when the first male reptile licked the first female reptile, implying in a subtle, complimentary way that she was as succulent as the small reptile he had for dinner the night before.

Not at all -- at that size they are lucky to draw blood. It's a normal defensive response for a tiny newborn, and the behavior passes quickly as they learn to trust the hand.

Scalybunni, note "at that size". Haha, but most colubrids are nothing major to get bitten by, mole snakes are an exception though, but only at adult size. The bigger boas and pythons are obviously something else.
