Hi CoN. In my findings and searching there are some pairs available/for sale, but think (someone corrects me if I am wrong) are relatively new in SA.I would love a pair, and will be looking into it end of the year.

They are more or less (if not a bit more expensive) then your jungle carpet pythons.(quality animals ofcourse)

I was looking at a hatchling at my local petshop just the other day .The asking price is R1800.Its a beautiful snake but the only problem is the one I saw was trying to bit everything around it.That is fine now but it will be a problem when its bigger.

TonyK, it could be due to passerby’s that irritates it and keep knocking on the glass.

I have noticed that pet shops’ reps are always a bit more agro, and you mentioned it is a hatchling.
Therefore it will be until it is a bit older, bigger and handled more.

It could be his/her personality, but one cannot generalise due to one hatchling, in a pet shop, not being handled. (TonyK, statement is not reflected at you :) )

I think pretty much 90% of all Blood Pythons are agro. Real b!tches.

They are becoming more and more popular in SA, but I think it will be a while before we see any morphs regularly.

Bobby, I think a lot of our Bloods are crosses, but I have seen many that look like pure brongersmai.

I've got a pair of Blood pythons, They are kept in the same conditions as my ball pythons exept their temps are a little lower, The female settled down nicely but the male hissis everytime I open the drawer, I can handle both of them with out problems but after a few minutes the go ballistic.

Still nice snakes though.

Thanx, I kept them in the store but all the traffic, made them stress way to much, They started to stop feeding and hid the whole day, the male striked several times at the glass, so I took them home, and they are going to stay at home, they started feeding again and they are allot more calm.

I keep some big bloods back in the UK but these are python curtus, your right, there amazing animals, my curtus are the locality with orange heads and these are by far the most friendly bloods out there, iv keep most localitys and species of bloods and the brongesmi do have a massive aggresive side to them but with some good handling as yound they have always been top snakes!

Its funny because crosses in the uk are worth nothing!!! How much would you guys be able to pick these up for and how much for a normal brongesmi? X

I keep five bloods but will be looking at some more in future. I have one Sumatran (so docile) and 4 yellow Malaysian. Some can be snappy but like mine they can settle. I found when mine went though a bad patch I just left them and they tamed down with time. I have had this with a few agro snakes, that they just mature into calmer adults. Some others have never tried to bite from the start.

We have three Sumatrans, which are all over 20 years old and all agro. you can sometimes pick them up but I am very cautious when we do that as they don't give any warning before they bite...
