Frog bite Durban North

Postby 78XT500 » Wed May 08, 2019 1:19 pm

Hi All.

Yesterday my wife had a frog leap about 40cm which landed on her foot with its mouth open and bit through the skin causing the bite to bleed. This occurred on the banks of the freshwater stream that runs through the Beachwood golf course.

Apart from the humorous aspect of the event, the interesting part is that I was not aware that Bullfrogs occurred in Durban??? I am not aware of any other frog that is capable or aggressive enough to pull off such an attack. Has anyone have any ideas or comments? Are Bullfrogs known to occur in Durban?

Hi Bruce

I speak under correction, but I dont think Bullfrogs occur around Durban.

Possibly it was an accidental bite? You may find the frog was just trying to escape and ended up with its mouth open.

Also a change it could be one of the larger toads. They can be quite agro!
