Postby Jason Lucey » Tue Sep 14, 2010 7:52 am

After school yesterday me and a mate decided to do a bit of herping on our farm in Mooi River. We found a pair of frogs/toads that looked as if they were mating werent able to I.D them maybe someone can please?

We also caught two Dusky Bellied water snakes and a common brown water snake. All of them were babies and had nice full tummys :D which is great to see!

We hoping to go out again in a couple weeks or so when it warms up a bit.
Sorry about the picture quality had to use my phone.
Thanks for looking.
Jason :-)

Very nice Jason,

That bridge always has something of interest.

Yeah it is a great spot hey! . i live on the school property just up the road from the bridge it's like a ten minute walk. One of my mates at school suggested that the snake in the pic is a yellow belied house snake is this true?

They weren't very big though. they were only about 9cm by 7cm and they were definitely mating because there were eggs everywhere in the water like all stringed together. aren't bull frogs normally quite big if they are at breeding maturity? excuse me if im wrong Haha
